This wine, purple in colour, is rich in tannins, intensive in colour, harmonious and tangy. It has a light note of violets as well as to aromas of forest berries, fresh cherries and plums.

What does Lagrein taste like? As one of Italy’s more fruit-intense red varieties, Lagrein often shows darker fruit characters with plummy and dark cherry/berry notes. But as a red wine grape variety native to northern Italy, the wines are rarely rich or overtly fruit-forward, and one can generally find assertive but not overly drying tannins. If you enjoy the structured tannins and rich violet aromas, Lagrein will be worth tasting.
